Student StoryMaps
These StoryMaps were produced by students at the University of Redlands in collaboration with A People’s History of the I.E. and the Bridges Project. The collection includes: stories from Mexican families settling in Redlands, South Colton and San Bernardino, struggles of environmental justice along the railyard in San Bernardino, Black community building in North Fontana & San Bernardino, school desegregation in Redlands & Japanese community building in 1930s San Bernardino. Some stories share the stories of students’ own families and communities, while others are based on archival research, but these all demonstrate the importance of student research in building a People’s History of the I.E. These are drafts, which have not been fully checked or revised by scholars and community historians, and thus may need revisions.
